Now entering our fourth year, Living Hockey’s camp programme is getting a bit of a reputation for itself. The camp syllabus includes an introduction to all of the fundamental skills required to become an elite level player. But, you also get to see the wacky, weird, outrageous and seemingly unbelievable from some of the world’s best players and coaches. Our motto is “learning whilst having fun,” which means we focus on technical elements of the game and decision-making drills, and then test them out in fun, game play exercises.
Camp attendees are encouraged to ask our coaches for any related hockey advice and draw from their experiences. Our international stars are keen to share and have a wealth of knowledge to tap into. At each of our camps we have a Question & Answers style interview session – so plan your questions in advance and see what they have to say. If you are lucky they will bring there medals with them to pass round. Questions fielded to the panel at recent camps (to give you an idea) include:
- Which country do you enjoy playing in most and why?
- What is the biggest crowd you have ever played in front of?
- If you hadn’t made it as a hockey player, what would you have been and why?
- Can you make any money out of playing hockey?
- What is your shots to saves ratio in international fixtures? (ask it again – it always makes us laugh seeing our goalkeepers trying to squirm out of that one)
- Who is/was your hockey idol?
- What was your best ever goal?
